The Power of His Presence

"If Your Presence does not go with us, do not bring us up from here."

Exodus 33:15

Moses puts me to shame here. He has just come down from spending 40 days and nights in the presence of God, and yet he is still hungry for more. A hunger that would not be satisfied with anything else — not with the protection of an angel, not with the promise of arriving to the promised land. Moses wanted to be in HIS presence at all cost, and once he was there, he wanted more and more.

How much do we desire to be in the presence of God?

We have our Bibles and the power of prayer, and yet how often do I hunger for time in my Bible and in prayer?

I pray that the Lord would help us to be in love with His presence more and more. Not just with the things that God can do for us, not just His protection and blessings, but with God Himself.

Lord, help me to realize that Your presence is the only place where I can find true rest. Move in my heart, Lord. Help me to go to you as a first resort and not as the last.
